Easter-09

I was a bit restless tonight with all the rain & thunder and really wanted to draw something spring-y to put up here to wish you a Happy Easter! ^_^  We’ve got a lot planned, all the normal things; church, baskets, candy, love & of course mom’s famous bunny cake! ;)  My brothers birthday is the day before Easter, so we’ll probably be having a birthday party in there somewhere as well!

To be very honest with you.. um, blog… I haven’t done one ounce of Easter shopping!  It has successfully snuck up on me this year and I’m in a scramble as I write this b/c I’ve just realized that I’ve got quite a lot to do in a very short amount of time!
You have to understand… Easter for us, is much like Christmas… we go all out.. the whole big Lunch/Dinner and family… games for the kids, Capture the flag for the grown ups & bigger kids once it gets dark and so on..
It’s pretty much everyone’s favorite holiday in my family… so, ya know, we *really* celebrate :P  I thought that’s how everyone did Easter until I met my husband…. his family kinda skims over it fairly unceremoniously comparatively.
It took me a while to get this in the beginning of our marriage… every year while planning, I’d be like, “Ok, we need to schedule this and buy that for that person, and be sure to make a basket for so-n-so…” and then my husband would be like, “Um…I dont think they’re doing anything much.” or.. “They *reaaaalllly* dont expect that Mariah.” inevitably coaxing the baskets & Easter grass from my clenched hands, “It’s O-K little lady… just put the Easter Grass down, ok?  Nice -n- easy now, we’ll be ok without 47 more baskets…”  …and…11 years later… we’ve got it down pretty well and it always turns out really, really nice ^_^
Of course, I am not implying that it’s wrong in any way not to do the whole big thing, this is just how we’ve always done it.. .  I wonder…. is Easter a BIG holiday for your family, or not so much?
Well, either way, I hope your day is filled with joy, peace, family & fun!
Very truly,
Mariah
