I was a bit restless tonight with all the rain & thunder and really wanted to draw something spring-y to put up here to wish you a Happy Easter! ^_^ We’ve got a lot planned, all the normal things; church, baskets, candy, love & of course mom’s famous bunny cake!
My brothers birthday is the day before Easter, so we’ll probably be having a birthday party in there somewhere as well!
To be very honest with you.. um, blog… I haven’t done one ounce of Easter shopping! It has successfully snuck up on me this year and I’m in a scramble as I write this b/c I’ve just realized that I’ve got quite a lot to do in a very short amount of time!
You have to understand… Easter for us, is much like Christmas… we go all out.. the whole big Lunch/Dinner and family… games for the kids, Capture the flag for the grown ups & bigger kids once it gets dark and so on..
It’s pretty much everyone’s favorite holiday in my family… so, ya know, we *really* celebrate
I thought that’s how everyone did Easter until I met my husband…. his family kinda skims over it fairly unceremoniously comparatively.
It took me a while to get this in the beginning of our marriage… every year while planning, I’d be like, “Ok, we need to schedule this and buy that for that person, and be sure to make a basket for so-n-so…” and then my husband would be like, “Um…I dont think they’re doing anything much.” or.. “They *reaaaalllly* dont expect that Mariah.” inevitably coaxing the baskets & Easter grass from my clenched hands, “It’s O-K little lady… just put the Easter Grass down, ok? Nice -n- easy now, we’ll be ok without 47 more baskets…” …and…11 years later… we’ve got it down pretty well and it always turns out really, really nice ^_^
Of course, I am not implying that it’s wrong in any way not to do the whole big thing, this is just how we’ve always done it.. . I wonder…. is Easter a BIG holiday for your family, or not so much?
Well, either way, I hope your day is filled with joy, peace, family & fun!
Very truly,
Mariah

Easter is a so-so holiday for us. Growing up we always had Easter baskets and I do the Easter baskets for the kids but they don’t believe in the Easter bunny and we don’t go to church. I was late in doing any shopping too. I just ran out today and got the stuff for their baskets but held back and didn’t buy too much. I try not to do too much candy for their teeth’s sake (my oldest just got braces so we have to be careful what she eats). Anyway I hope you have a lovely holiday! I love your illustration – my 7 year old wore her bunny ears to school today – so cute!
Mariah,
Happy Easter to you! I received your package today. Thank you! I am wearing my spring giveaway prize necklace and it is adorable. Thank you again!
Rainer
I’m not sure if Jake still believes.. I think last year he kind of figured things out
I think he maybe still ‘wants’ to believe, but pretty much knows…
xoxoxo, Mariah
I am not buying a bunch of candy either, though {and here’s where I go overboard} I usually buy a spring-y outfit and toys for his basket too.. Crayons, coloring books, play doh, a movie perhaps etc. I’m bad.. I’m going to try to go with a bit less this year though.. maybe just one “big” thing… maybe a game for the Wii? I dunno… I haven’t even looked around yet! We’ll see…
I hope you guys have a great Easter Lisa! Your family always seems to have so much fun together!
P.S. – Congrats on getting the braces off! What a relief huh!?! That’s great!
Oh, I’m so glad! Thank you so much for letting me know! ^_^ I’m so glad you won dear Rainer! Have a great holiday!
