I was wandering about online during my lunch (I know, I know, a big no, no!) and went over to my twitter page and saw this post: Calling All Moms asking, “What’s the funniest thing your child has ever said?” – If you know me at all, you know my favorite thing is a good & true laugh, so this question inspired me!

A long time ago my husband made a little ‘piggy bank’ type jar for us to put the little scraps of paper building up where we wrote funny things that happened in our family or sweet/funny things our son said. Just a little place to store the memories that was easy to access and remember. It’s worked well over the years. When this question came up on Alison’s blog I knew right where to go! It’s been a long time since I opened our jar up so I was excited to recall all the memories!

Dang you guys, my heart melted about a million times and I came away feeling even more blessed than I normally do! Here’s the one I chose to answer the question on Alison’s blog,

“I was asking my son about his day at school. As he was telling me about it he mentioned a name I wasn’t familiar with so I asked if she was a room parent. He replied, “No, she’s a kid, she’s not human yet.” Who knew we only become human upon becoming adults.

Here are a couple of my other favorites that are more sweet than funny,

“One day I was talking to you (me to my son) and I told you, ‘You’re incredible’ to which you replied, ‘I like it when you say that.’”

I remember this one, it wasn’t too long ago, and I’ll just never forget the sincerity in his eyes. It was quite a moment. I just thought, what a simple and honest reply. I wish I had that kind of grace.

The other one, well, you guys know that we’ve had a really hard time with infertility the second time around, so this was an extra heart tugging moment for me, but it shows you what a sweet heart my dear boy has. He’s going to be an amazing father (just like his dad) He and I were just chatting one day on the way to school when he said,

“If I ever have a little brother, and he had a crush on some girls at school, I would pat him on the shoulder when I drop him off at school and tell him, “Go get em’ Tiger!”

When he grabbed his bag to hop out, we said our regular, “I love you’s” and just as he turned to run to class I called his name and quietly said, “Go get em’ tiger!” …. I think I actually saw his heart swell. In the space of that moment, he knew that someone ‘got him’ and I will always cherish the smile that beamed back at me.

Yep. Being his mom is one of my biggest honors. I’m so glad I happened upon Alison’s question so I could mosey down memory lane for a while this morning! Thanks Alison! xo
